Hot Chocolate-Stout Float

Happy St Patrick’s Day Divas! So today is the day that we all are suppose to wear green, drink beer, and search for shamrocks-but do we know why? Well, according to techtimes.com, St. Patty’s day started out as a very modest holiday.  Why do we wear green? Believe it or bot, there is no clear reason why.  It is said to represent Ireland and according to folk legends, if you don’t wear green, you run the risk of being pinched by a Leprechaun. Why do we drink beer?  America is responsible for turning St. Patrick’s Day into the big party we know and love today, which is totally not surprising. There’s some debate over when the first St. Patrick’s Day parade took place, but early celebrations happened in Boston in 1737 and New York in 1763.  St. Patrick’s Day celebrations continued to grow as more and more Irish immigrants came to the U.S. And last but not least, what is up with the shamrock?  According to legend, St. Patrick, who was he is an important figure in Irish Catholic history who spent his life converting Irish to Christianity, used shamrocks, those three-leaf clovers, to explain the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit while trying to convert people to Christianity. So, now that we know a little bit more about St. Patrick’s Day, I have a recipe to share with you for Tasty Tuesday!

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Stout Beer or Lager
  • Hot Fudge Topping
  • Whipped Cream & Chocolate Syrup optional (not pictured)

Step 1:

Mix 1/2 cup of Chocolate Fudge and 1/4 cup of lager over medium heat until the chocolate has melted. 

 
Step 2:

Put two scoops of ice cream in a tall glass and add about two teaspoons of the chocolate mixture over the ice cream. 

 
Step 3:

Now this is where things get a little messy, pour the lager over the ice cream, just enough to fill your glass. 

 
Step 4:

This last step is optional, I topped my float with whipped cream and chocolate syrup and there you have it!
